The Steadfast One . . .

. . . is Max. Years ago I was doing a home visit and heard there was a puppy chained in the yard next door. The woman who answered the door told me that her son had found the puppy wandering along a mountain road, possible abandoned there. He was about 4 months old and wore a red bandanna around his neck. We recognized each other the instant our eyes met. My offer of a home was accepted and Max trotted beside me, hopped into the car, and was ready to go. Ten years later Max is still always ready to go.
